Houses

NEED Infrastructure provide low cost, sustainable housing in developing countries around the world. Our company meets a desperate need to provide social housing, which in many countries has suffered from under investment throughout the last three decades.

Our homes are constructed from lightweight metal frame structures built on a solid concrete base with lightweight wall and roof claddings installed to create an external secure envelope.

In embracing this form of construction, homes can be built at a low cost using a modular system and as such respond to a countries housing shortage in a relatively short timescale.

This method of construction can provide an ideal rapid response to an immediate housing shortage following an unfortunate natural disaster such as tsunami or earth quake and aid any inevitable subsequent rebuilding process.

The method of construction allows for great flexibility in layout allowing variation in plan layout, configuration, design and construction methods. The design can therefore be modified and adapted to meet the specific needs, culture or climate conditions of an individual country.

For example, in Southern Asia where the climate is very hot and humid we have new homes which promote and maximize natural ventilation, the envelope has been kept lightweight to reduce thermal mass and the eaves to the roof overhang have been designed to provide shading and to cater with heavy rain showers.

The size of our homes varies in scale and size. Our smallest homes consist of a 600 square feet (55.7 square metres) layout incorporating two bedrooms with associated kitchen, dining and living spaces. Our largest is 2,000 square feet (185.8 square metres) incorporating three bedrooms with associated kitchen, dining and living spaces.
